Full sleeve — golden mask & ornamental motifs (forearm/upper arm)
Share
Design intent
A large, readable sleeve built around golden mask and ornamental geometry. The goal was strong structure, clear facial focal points, and smooth transitions so the piece reads well from a normal viewing distance.
Placement & size
Forearm into upper arm, large scale. We mapped key landmarks (wrist, elbow, biceps) to keep eyes, mouth and borders flowing with the arm’s movement.
Color choices
A warm palette—ochres, golds and muted olives—against deep blacks for contrast. The yellows were tuned to stay luminous without oversaturating, so they age gracefully.
Stencil & fit tweaks
On the day we nudged scale/rotation around the elbow crease and tapered some lines along the wrist to keep edges clean. Small spacing tweaks helped the masks “sit” on anatomy.
Result
A cohesive sleeve with bold focal points and ornamental rhythm. Photographed in controlled light right after finishing. Healed photos will be added later.
Before (reference)
Client previously had an older tribal piece on the upper arm (see photo below). The new sleeve builds a stronger structure and visual flow across the arm.
